Rachel Watkin

Rachel is our founder and chair of trustees. Prior to setting up Refugee Kindness, Rachel was a self-employed barrister. She set up Refugee Kindness out of frustration over the inequalities in society and a desire to extend kindness to others.

Saboor Afghan


Saboor settled in North Wales in 2021 and brings a wealth of strategic experience from his long-standing career with the British Council, where he leads global transformation projects. He holds an MSc in Programme and Project Management from the University of Chester and is passionate about using his leadership and planning skills to support the Refugee Kindness mission.

Lisa Kovacs


Lisa is a Deputy Headteacher at a special school in North Wales. She has a keen interest in access, inclusion, equality and communication for all members of our community. She can offer support in relation to Additional Learning Needs, assessment and Safeguarding.


Iolanda Banu Viegas
Volunteer Recruitment and Events Manager


Born in Mozambique, brought up in Portugal, Iolanda has dedicated the last 24 years to championing diversity in Wrexham and North Wales. She has been working with Refugee Kindness since 2023 encouraging integration and embracing diversity. In October 2025, Iolanda was awarded an honorary fellowship from Wrexham University in recognition of her work.

Tracey Rahman
Head of Operations


Tracey was one of our founding volunteers. She has been with us since 2020 as a volunteer mentor and operations lead. As well as having a demanding day job and family to look after she always finds time to prioritise the needs of our beneficiaries.


Laura Rowlands
Family Coordinator


Laura is primary school teacher, business woman with Usborne and Girlguiding leader She offers support with any with school-related matters and liaises with schools and other organisations who are interested in hearing about our work and how they can support us.

Antony L.K. Miriti
Fundraising Officer

Kim is from Kenya. He resettled in Wales in 2025. With his business management and finance background he is passionate in empowering refugees and asylum seekers within local communities
